We are used to dealing with separated/divorced/re-married parents, please be candid and give us as much detail as possible on how well you and they get on together. We will help create a photo list that is specific to your family. Typically we can take several additional posed photos before the ceremony such as Bride and Mother, Bride and Father, Bride and Bridesmaids, Groom and Best Man, Groom and Parents etc. Also, if we are covering the whole day we can also schedule some time after the meal to capture any other posed photos you'd like. After the ceremony we usually capture around 15 formal, posed family/friend photos in the time between the ceremony and the Wedding Breakfast/Receiving Line [1.5 hours] as well as some portraits of the Bride & Groom in various locations at the venue (15 minutes). Each posed group shot takes on average 3 minutes to call, gather, pose, capture and disperse. We like to have about 15 minutes for couple's portraits. When creating your list try and leave enough time so that you can talk to your family and friends.
The longer we have to capture the formal, posed photos the longer we also have to capture our natural & candid shots. Whilst one of us takes the groups pictures, the other will take the informal shots of your family and friends. Please remember that the weather [rain/wind/snow], the light [time of day], the amount of guests at your wedding & the venue itself [grounds/layout] can all affect how many photographs we can take in the time we have. Most venues have an indoor wet/bad weather option, we always carry portable studio lights just in case but room sizes may mean we have to adjust your group sizes. Having someone help us gather people for photos is very useful, this can be an Usher, a Bridesmaid, a Toastmaster or anyone who knows most of the guests. Photos not on our standard list can also be incorporated, but any that we can take before the ceremony or after the meal will ease the pressure on the limited time we have for the majority of the group shots.
